Someone Finally Built our Nintendo Wii Gaming PC


A true Nintendo Wii gaming PC now is available, and the small stealth rig is able to run Minecraft at 4K resolution. The customized build can handle games that are competitive, such as Fortnite and Rocket League, thanks to its AMD Ryzen 5 APU and a few clever console shell changes.



AlexTriesTech developed the Nintendo Wii gaming computer, or 'WiiC,' which is a computer disguised to appear like an ordinary console designed for families. While the AMD Ryzen 5 5500U powered machine can play Wii games using Dolphin It's also a full-featured Windows 11 system that'll run the majority of your Steam library.



The innards of the WiiC were originally an old Ryzen APU PC, but AlexTriesTech has trimmed the system's motherboard to allow it to fit within the Wii's compact chassis. Naturally, the build eliminates extras like Gamecube controller ports and its original disc drive to make everything fit, and the sell features modifications that enhance the airflow, reduce CPU throttling and ultimately boost fps.



While the project took months of work and development, the final product looks exactly like a fully functional Nintendo Wii. It even comes with RGB lighting that resembles the blue glow of the original console's disc slot.



While the Wii stealth rig could appear to be an oddity, tests show that it's much more than a joke build. The micro-computer can deliver more than 100fps in Fornite and run Rainbow Six: Siege at 1080p 60fps. Shadow of the Tomb Raider can also be run on a small PC. As mentioned above, it can manage Minecraft at 4K, so you could pair it with the most powerful gaming monitor and play the classic block game with a higher resolution.
